Loy Krathong 2014 at Kata Rocks is a Time for Loved Ones

Loy Krathong 2014, an Evening at Kata Rocks

Loy Kratong is an annual festival that takes place across Thailand each November. Traditionally, lanterns made from banana trees will be floated on water accompanied by a wish or prayer. Families, friends and romantic couples will release Krathongs together, to symbolize letting go of their misdeeds.

Kata Rocks’ General Manager Scot Toon and our Guest Experience Director Sandy Nichapa Robson will be on hand, to inform guests about this auspicious Loy Krathong tradition.

At sunset, Kata Rocks will provide every in-house guest/villa with their Krathong. Our award winning culinary team will serve bubbles and canapés on the Resort’s ocean-side rocks for guests to enjoy before launching their Krathong.

The resort will also float an oversize, beautiful lotus lantern that will be displayed in the reception area one day before Loy Krathong. At 5:30 PM on Friday, two traditionally-dressed “beauty queens” known in Thai as “Mrs. Noppamas” will float this ornate vessel.
