Asia Superyacht Rendezvous Revisits Phuket’s Kata Beach

Superyacht Rendezvous have been held in areas of Monaco, the Caribbean and as of 2013 – 2014, add Phuket Island’s Kata Beach. Host sponsor Kata Rocks Resort and Residences seems to be made specifically for this event. Providing a private docking point, the resort won twenty awards for its oceanfront sky-villas designed with inspiration from… superyachts. Think sleek white, expansive tinted windows that open to the sea, and signature wrap-around masts.

Rendezvous unites sailors, friends and family from around the world. In tropical Asia since the start of this century, December 16 – 18 will be the second time superyachts unite for festivities around Phuket’s Kata beach, including two days of races. A mix of top motor powered yachts and wind vessels alike, will again sweep across the Andaman Sea with its world-class white sand beaches, dotted islands and dramatic limestone cliffs. By invitation only, entrant vessels are at least 30 meters overall length. Terrestrial based events take place on the Kata Rocks headland between two of Asia’s most sought-after beaches, a location which compliments the epicurean lifestyle of this floating In Kata Bay, 2014’s opening night cocktail party will be held aboard the renowned MSV Silolona, a traditional Indonesian-style spice ship which integrates the best of modern amenities. This vessel is handmade to German Lloyds specifications by the Master Konjo boat builders of Sulawesi Indonesia. At 50 meters in length, the superyacht returns to be a true favorite of past guests; an awe-inspiring floating venue to initiate the picturesque festivities adjacent to the resort’s headland.

Charterworld Magazine says “South-East Asia continues to rise as a popular destination on the superyacht scene. With Phuket, Thailand’s central maritime hub, as a key base for sailing in the region… there are few places on earth that compare to the Andaman Sea when it comes to sailing.”

Apart from two days of sailing, primary sponsor Feadship Royal Dutch Shipyards will be hosting a variety of contests known as the Feadship Challenge activities, with Host Sponsor Kata Rocks providing the gala dinner and finale crew party.

Infinite Luxury CEO Richard Pope, developer of Kata Rocks adds, “We are excited to be hosting the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous this year; a fantastic opportunity for superyacht owners, their friends and family to continue, or start the SE Asia cruising season with like-minded people in a luxurious and fun environment.” He continues, “It is fantastic for Kata Rocks to welcome such a passionate group of lifestyle enthusiasts, and to be supporting such an event in the company of other outstanding sponsors; such as Feadship, Asia-Pacific Superyachts, Boat International Media and Yacht Style.”

Guests of the Asia Superyacht Rendezvous are able to reserve the award winning Sky-Villas for enjoying stunning sunset views of the bay which also overlooks all vessels anchored for the three day event.
