Modern designer kitchens are filled with digital devices. They have become elegant, attractive and now intelligent and interactive. More than ever, smart kitchens built with industrial research make home-style cooking a true pleasure.
Nowhere is that innovation-revolution more present, than in work of the Italian Pininfarina family. Their famed designs brought the world Ferrari and Maserati, and over 65 years ago, they created Snaidero kitchens.
Over that time, their brand became a preeminent designer for global European-style kitchen consumers. With each passing era, they influenced kitchen design by new concepts; such as introducing curves into the kitchen space. They innovated 360 degree projects and were first to offer kitchens that follow adaptive universal design.
In recent times, Snaidero gave rise to newfound “smart” concepts for the designer kitchen space. The word smart has earned itself a contemporary, global meaning which represents a collection of new values such as “luxury” and “modern.” In the case of smart kitchens, they must have a relational intelligence. From the concept stage, such kitchens should intrinsically exceed standards of contemporary, certified and 10-year warrantied quality, life, aesthetics and technology.
Kata Rocks Resort and Residences in Phuket, Thailand, for example features 34 smart kitchens: one for each oceanfront Sky Villa. The multiple international award-winning property chose Snaidero’s design known as Orange. Like Kata Rocks itself, Orange is designed to be elegant and sleek — avoiding superfluous elements. Certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and ISO 14001, the kitchen’s environmentally-friendly materials and functions are designed to reduce energy consumption and separate waste.
Time, energy, and space are all optimized intelligently, aided by clever storage and organization. Streamlined layouts feature an arctic white matte lacquer and cabinet doors equipped with soft close functions. Acid-etched low-iron white glass on worktops, and laser-cut laminate are complimented by water-based coatings to provide the smoothest and safest surfaces available. Each of the 34 Sky Villa’s 100% Italian-made kitchens are fully fitted with European appliances including De Dietrich’s premium collection of smart induction hobs, stainless steel downdraft extractor hoods, ICS (Intelligent Cooking System) ovens, microwaves and built-in dishwashers designed in France; Siemens’ built-in intelligent sensor refrigerators, washing machines and dryers designed in Germany; Vintec’s wine cellars designed in Denmark; and an optional Swiss-designed, automated Nespresso coffee machine. Each smart appliance is seamlessly integrated from the outset, all aligned by Snaidero’s original concept.
For those whose passion is cooking, the smart kitchen provides an ideal space to revel in creativity. As for those who prefer to watch seasoned professionals work their magic, Kata Rocks can provide in-villa chefs along with butler-style service.

Guests enjoy everything from barbecues to Thai dishes, however fresh oceanfront seafood selections are still the favorite. At the Andaman sea coast, guests can seamlessly access Thailand’s abundance of seasonable produce to get cooking in their smart kitchen. Gastronomically speaking, what else could a foodie ask for? Just about everything is in the villa, with its open-plan smart kitchen space which connects to a sunset terrace, infinite pool, and dining / living area. In the end, it leaves perhaps little reason to depart one’s Sky Villa.
